iSO reflection

I enjoyed this photoshoot more than any of past photoshoots I've done before. I was able to incorporate a theme of fall inspired photos. I also loved how I could use dim lighting, such as candle light, into my photos. In my everyday life I light many candles around my room and bathroom because I feel that it creates somewhat of a somber mood and makes the room cozier. Being able to use the candles as my light kind of gave anyone who is looking at my photos a kind of sneak peak into my life.
I have attached some of my favorite photos to this blog. In the third picture you can see I used the rule of thirds when photographing the glasses against the book. After taking this picture several times, at many different angles, I felt that this photo worked out the best for what I wanted to portray.
I feel, as an artist, that this is one of my stronger photoshoots. I had no troubles controlling the settings on my camera to achieve these pictures which was a huge plus! Overall I feel that I accomplished what Mrs. Hahn wanted to see from these photos and I will definitely use the rule of iSO in many of my future photoshoots.

Shutter Speed/ Motion reflection

When I figured out that this photoshoot was going to be assigned over fall break, I knew that I would want to take my pictures on my vacation to Florida. There were several things I didn't expect to find down there that were great to photograph. Such as the migrating monarch butterflies in some of the dune state parks. I tried to use the rules of get close and rule of thirds when taking my my photos. Although I sometimes forget to use them.
One of my favorite places on Earth is Rosemary Beach, Florida. I have always dreamed of someday moving there and settling down in some kind of beach house. I loved that I was able to take pictures of all the amazing things in this place and show other people the town since it is not well known.
I think that I did a good job of having variety in my pictures. If I could change one thing it would be to practice more before I went out to take my photos. Sometimes I would find a good picture opportunity but I wouldn't be ready fast enough to take the picture. Overall I am very proud of these photos and I will for sure use these techniques in my future photoshoots.

DOF Reflection

For this photoshoot I went to a local nature trail off of Hauge Rd. My mom and I had been wanting to explore this new place we discovered but hadn't had the time to go. When I learned we had a new photoshoot I knew this place would be the perfect place to go shoot. There were so many interesting things to take pictures of. I tried my best to remember to use the rules of composition, including not centering and get close. I also tried to use color contrast and avoiding distractions. I loved how I was able explore a new place and take pictures of at the same time. I liked how people could see what I was seeing without having to go back into the woods themselves.

I thought this photoshoot was some what challenging. At first it was hard to figure out how to work the aperture settings on my camera. My practice images may have turned out really bad but I feel I got the hang of it more as the shoot went along. I probably would have started my photoshoot earlier if i knew how challenging it was before I started so I didn't feel as rushed.

Photography in the future

In the future I see us being able to take pictures with some kind of everyday device, such as glasses, or even our eyes and be able to share it right away. Since everyone would be able to take photos it would be hard to express yourself and get to the level of "fine art"; but, since we are able to take pictures in the moment, we could show people what it's like to live in our lives. For example, if I'm hiking up a mountain and wanted to take a picture of the scenery, I could show someone exactly what I'm seeing in the moment of seeing it.

color photoshoot reflection

I think this past photoshoot was my best so far. I'm not gonna lie, I was a little nervous when first discovering I had the color yellow. I was not sure what I could take pictures of and how I was gonna do it. I had my mom help me and we thought it would be a good idea to go through some of the antique shops in downtown Noblesville. The morning I went to do it, it was like yellow things were placed there just for me to photograph. I never noticed all the yellow in things until I did this photoshoot. Yellow is now one of my favorite colors!

philosophy

The purpose of a camera in my opinion is to capture memories in the moment. Often when I find myself scrolling through my camera roll in my phone, I find myself smiling remembering all the moments of when certain pictures were taken. I know many people say to live in the moment; but, when we are 90 years old are and can barely remember to brush our teeth in the morning, how are we supposed to remember the little memories we had with our friends when we were teenagers?

seven characteristics of creative thinking

seven characteristics of creative thinking:
1. Receptivity-be open to new ideas; welcome new experiences
2. Attentiveness-every experience is potentially valuable
3. Conviction-tenaciously pursue an independent path
4. Curiosity-researhc unusual topics; analyze unfamiliar systems
5. Wide Range of Interests-with more components, the number of combinations increase
6. Seeking Connections-see the similarity between disparate parts
7. Complexity-combine the irrational with the intuitive

I feel that these characteristics of creativity are different for each person. People are inspired by different things. Some people could be more creative when working in a group; while, some people could be more creative when working alone. It's different for each person.

Genius???

I think its kind of amazing how Wolfgang Beltracchi was able to forge art by all these famous artists. Even though it was wrong of him to do this, it's kind of unbelievable that even experts were fooled by his work. I feel like if you have a genius like talent you shouldn't have to hide it but you should be smart about how you use it. If I were gifted with one genius like talent I would want to be like a human encyclopedia. I think it would be really cool to know anything and everything you would ever need to know. You could be anything you want to be and you could make a lot of money from it.

my favorite image

Some of my favorite images are of sunsets. They interest me because none of them look the same. They can take a place that is completely boring and turn into something interesting.

Photography

This year in photography I expect to learn how to take better photos. I have always enjoyed taking pictures with my mom and with my friends when I was younger. Over the years my mom and I enjoy taking pictures of nature and scenery, especially when we are on vacation at the beach. I want to be able to move onto AP photo in future years and be able to use the skills I learn in my everyday life.

3d Art Final

Art can be anything you want it to be. Throughout this semester I have discovered that art can influence you everyday in your everyday life. From doing the bell works I have discovered that a lot of artists use deeper meaning in their pieces rather than just making something that looks good to their viewers. My goal for my future art classes is to be able to do this.
When I was around six years old, I met a lady named Jene that lived around the corner from me in my old neighborhood. Little did I know that she would be a major influence to how I mature and grow as an adult when I first met her. She was always talking about art to my siblings and I ever since we were young. She would do paintings for us that matched our rooms and would show us her "art gallery" in her apartment. She explained to me that art is a way to express yourself and to show your thoughts to the world in a creative way. I have always carried that with me. Two years ago our family friend Jene got engaged to her boyfriend and decided to move to Minnesota to be closer to his family. Though she may not be around as much as she used to be, I still carry her voice of art with me as I pursue art in high school. Although my love for art is not as deep as Jene's, I think I will carry her message of looking for the beauty in everything with me for the rest of my life in a different way.
I have seemed to discover this year that working with my hands is not one of my strong suits, but still enjoyed making the projects even though I know they were not some of my best work. One of my favorite projects we did this semester was the encaustics project. I liked that we were able to create something kind of silly through the juxtaposition. I liked that it was laid back and easy, and I feel like we should do more projects like that. I also liked that it taught us how to work with the metal before we started the metal projects and I feel like we should do more skill work like that before doing a big project. For my other projects I liked that we were able to bring our own voices and themes to our projects so each of our projects were unique to our own personalities. I noticed a common theme throughout my projects by incorporating aspects from cheer and my family. I know that incorporated the principles of design somehow in my projects, but I still have little understanding of how I did so. I feel that in future classes we should cover the principles of design more so that students have a better understanding of how they affect our art.
Overall my projects this semester were not bad. I worked really hard on them so even though I was not happy with most of the outcomes, I was proud of myself for not giving up. Being an artist can be challenging when doing a challenging project. I think since this art class I have looked for deeper meaning in all aspects of life. Such as, the books we had to read for english class. I hope I can carry this understanding with me to my photography class next year. Thank you for all the lessons I have learned through art this year and for a great semester!
